Although I didn't go to sleep until 1am, was woken up by G at 3am, and again for good at 5:45am, I loaded up my car at 8am with all of my surf stuff and headed to the beach. I promised myself on Wednesday that this Saturday morning I was going to wake up, feed G and go to the beach alone and have some girl time.
I had only been out surfing once since G was born. That's one time in 2 years (including pregnancy)! I was a little nervous in the cold salty early morning air, but guess what?
I had so much fun!
I stayed in the water for 2 hours straight, and it cleansed me of stress and connected me to myself and nature.
I came home a new woman. A better mom and a happy wife.
Yay! :)
(I always like to try and put a photo with my posts if I can. I found this photo from a couple of years ago of me and Dylan waxing my board. I can't wait till we all go as a family!
But for now I will treasure these solo trips :) )

Good for you! Love the photo also.
you amaze me ~surfing sounds like a very special time for you...magic moments are important!
sounds great! good for you!
Hey you surfing Mom. Great to hear you had such a wonderful time. Yea let the sea rinse off all the stress, go more often and enjoy.
Big forrest hugs from me to you.
Send me over some beach please.
I had so much fun that I took Dylan and we spent the whole day at the beach again the next day! I got to surf twice in one day until my arms were like noodles. We happened to run into some friends and family while we were there so I was able to play in the waves while he played on the beach. It was great! :)
you take some lovely photos. i've enjoyed scrolling through your blog.

right back at ya!
;-)
This made me smile, hugely! Alone time, doing something that expands your heart is so important. And for a girl who loves the sea, I'd say essential... Good on you for carving out that time for yourself! Arms like noodles is a good way to end a day :)
You did a wonderful thing for yourself, and your family. It's so important to spend time with yourself, doing something you enjoy doing. Well done! And yes, family surf trips are coming, I would guess:).
Hi Shell! Sounds like you had some much deserving time! I really enjoyed visiting your lovely blog! You take beautiful photographs! Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful week!
Hugs,
Lisa :)
What a day to cherish! Alone time is fleeting when they are so young - good for you to make it happen. And what a wonderful experience to share with your kids as they grow older, sand, surf, ocean, exhilarating sport with the whole family... can't get much better!
I want to be at the beach! :) I'm a total beach bum, so you can imagine my jealousy. For now, I will have to settle with 50 degree weather in June.
I'm so glad that you were able to get some alone time.
